The Early Morning Gardening Ritual

Why 20 Minutes Before The World Wakes Up Might Be The Most Important Part Of Your Day

There's a particular quality to a garden in the early morning that's difficult to describe to someone who hasn't experienced it.

The air is cooler. The light is different. The neighbourhood is quiet. Your mind hasn't yet been filled with notifications, obligations, or noise. It's just you, the garden, and whatever needs tending.

For many of our most dedicated customers, this has become a ritual, and we think it might be one of the most underrated things a person can do for themselves.

FOR YOUR MIND

Not only is gardening good movement and grounding in nature, but it’s proven to decrease stress, enhance memory retention, increase creativity, and improve overall happiness.

One study found that gardening for as little as 150 minutes per week (just over 20 minutes a day) was associated with significantly better mental wellbeing and life satisfaction. That's one episode of a TV show. One scroll through social media. Twenty minutes.

FOR YOUR PLANTS

The early morning is also the most beneficial time you can give your garden, especially as we move into the warmer months. Here’s what happens when you water in the morning:

Your plants absorb more and the water you apply goes further.

Disease risk drops dramatically, since moisture isn’t sitting on foliage overnight.

Plants are most active in the morning, so you’re working alongside a plant’s natural rhythm.

You conserve more water thanks to less evaporation.

It’s simple: aim for the window between 6am and 10am. You don't need to be up before sunrise. Just before the day gets going is enough. Bring your coffee!

Think of implementing this early morning gardening ritual into your daily life this season and see what’s grows! From thriving plants to improved well-being or just for a brighter start to your day, see how this small change in your routine can make a huge impact.
